Smudging & Cleansing Rituals

Have you always wanted to bring rituals into your life but are not quite sure how? That tends to be the most common obstacle. The secret is, that there is no right or wrong way to do it. If you feel called to a particular ritual, then it’s the right ritual for you. If you feel called to a specific smell, tea, salt, flower, or stone, then it’s the right one for you to practice. Remember, don’t overthink it, the best way to let your intuition grow is to trust it and practice following it.

Below are a few tips on rituals that are meant to get your creative and intuitive juices flowing so that you can adapt and adjust them and make them your own. ENJOY!!

Cleansing Rituals

start with 3+ deep breaths + get present in your space

-brew your cleansing tea + sit quietly

-light your sage bundle to support meditation

clear your body layers of an unwanted mood + unwanted energy

-light your cedar or sage bundle + keep a tray under it as you move it around your body and the physical bodies of others

-Palo Santo is easy to use + better for the new or less experienced smudger, it’s also great for kids

clear your home + spaces of unwanted or stale energy

-move your lit bundle (tray in hand) around your home

-sound is another great way to cleanse a space, use a drum, bells, or anything that brings you joy

-spend extra time at doors + windows

-consider setting an intention or making a mantra for specific areas as you move around your space

-repeat in your office + car

use an incense match for quick relief

-when you don’t have time to supervise a whole stick + for small spaces

-reset your own vibe with a match alongside your deep-breathing

consider making an alter

-place your new cleansing tools on + around as you feel is right

-add pictures or trinkets representing those you have lost

-consider adding stones + candles

-an alter is a great place to store your cleansing sound makers

-essential oils and plants can be a lovely addition

cleansing salt bath

-fill your tub + add one cup of sea salt, Epsom salt, or other salts

cleansing herbal bath

-fill a small sachet with tea bags (3+) of your favorite herbal tea, fill the bath + enjoy

-consider harvesting your own plants of choice, dry + add them to your sachet

-in small quantities essential oils can also be a great addition
