Running tips for beginners: Getting started

When you first start a running routine it can be both exciting and nerve wrecking. Given today's issues it may be your only escape from quarantine, but if you want it to, running can keep feeling like that magical escape day after day even when the quarantine ends. One way to stay motivated is by creating routine. Telling yourself to get out the door, even if its only for 10 minutes, is a great way to cut yourself some slack if you aren’t feeling it that day, while also keeping the habit of getting out the door. Often you’ll end up feeling great once you're out there and going for as long as you originally planned! And if not, then no worries.

It's important to keep the pressure off of yourself and rest when you need it. The emotional stress of today can be just as taxing on your body as a physical workout. Listening to your body is one of the most important things a runner can do when it comes to mitigating injuries and longevity, so make sure to start that way!
